From 1931 to 1936 polish traveller Kazimierz Nowak, travelled on his bike and by foot across Africa covering a distance of ca. 40,000kms.
One year after his return he died of pneumonia as a consequence of malaria and general exhaustion.
People say that riding fixed is the “purest” form of biking, but this picture proves otherwise. To the best of my knowledge those are not derailed bikes, and yet they are facing the road with everything they need on their body and in their mind. If that isn’t the purest form of biking then I couldn’t tell you what is.
